Random Thought at General SynodWhile listening to one of my enthusiastic brethren urge us all to be able to 'express the Gospel in a nutshell' I was assailed by the following unhelpful thought:
"Anybody who understands 'the gospel in a nutshell' has a tiny chewy gospel that some folks are allergic to"

Francis of Assisi didn't do that bad. Unfortunately, we aren't Francis.
Of course, anything that is supposed to be infinite will have trouble coming down to the size of a nutshell. Maybe we all need to learn how to quickly compose an elevator speech tailored to the situation?
